contributions” says Dr. Hardy. “This award further validates not only my body
of work in a field that is evolving, but brings awareness to an emerging field
of risk management practice.”
Indeed,
as Dr. Hardy has been at the forefront of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) early
on and for the past 12 years. Often seen as a pioneer in her sector, her award-winning
book is an extension of the very first research report she published with the
IBM Center in 2009. But she may also be considered the “Guru for Making Things Happen,” since she is also a founder of a professional
Association for ERM and wrote portions of policy that introduced ERM in financial
and performance management frameworks, among many other accomplishments.
One
award judge wrote:
"Enterprise Risk Management: A Guide for
Government Professionals” warrants the top contender spot in the
winners’ category for the coveted 2017 Most Promising New Textbook award. Dr.
Karen Hardy does an excellent job in taking very technical aspects of ERM and
provides guidance and real-world advice on key elements that make a successful
ERM program. The student or federal employee at all levels will gain
resourceful knowledge and learn practical skills as they relate to ERM."Awards will be given to winners at the TAA Conference June 9 & 10.
